Issue 25, Feb 2015 – Emotions in the Family Business

Managing emotions in the workplace is not a challenge that is faced by family businesses alone. However, to work with family members guarantees that the complexity of personal relationships enters the professional spheres. Like many characteristics of the family business, the heightened level of emotions is advantageous and disadvantageous at the same time. On the one hand, strong emotions can manifest themselves as commitment and passion for the business. On the other hand, they can get out of hand ending in anger and resentment.
