What is Flixbus?

Flixbus is Europe’s largest intercitybus network. The company was founded in 2011 in Munich by Daniel Krauss, Jochen Engert and André Schwämmlein and launched its first route in February 2013 in Germany.

We had the opportunity to interview Daniel Krauss co-founder and CIO of the company.

Why is Flixbus so cheap?

Flixbus services run in cooperation with regional bus companies from all over Europe. Local partners are responsible for the day-to-day running of routes, while Flixbus is in charge of the official authorizations required to operate the long-distance network.

They started their operations back in February 2013 when, with the amendment of a law, Deutsche Bahn lost its exclusive right for long-haul ground transportation in Germany. With the deregulation of the European bus market, private vectors like Flixbus, can provide travel transportation at a much cheaper cost from one big city to another.

The business model of Flixbus in particularly is highly scalable and has enabled the company to grow quickly.
