First Pacific Company, Ltd. is an investment management and holding company engaging primarily in consumer food products, infrastructure, natural resources and telecommunications. Headquartered in Hong Kong, the company was founded in 1981 by Sudono Salim and Manuel V. Pangilinan from the Philippines. It is controlled by the Salim Group.

Established as an overseas investment vehicle for the Salim, Sutanto, Sudwikatmono and Risjad families, First Pacific built its early portfolio out of acquisitions, such as California’s Hibernia Bank and the Dutch trading company, Hagemeyer.

By 1984, First Pacific focussed on its financial services segment, while acquiring close to 23 companies with diverse interests that spanned from dry goods to computer technology.

In the 1990s, First Pacific sold off a large portion of its holdings and pivoted toward four core segments: marketing, telecommunications, real estate and banking. Today, the company holds key banners, including the Philippines’ leading telecommunications and digital services provider, PLDT, and one of the worlds’ largest manufacturers by volume of wheat-based instant noodles, Indofood.

First Pacific generates annual sales of over $7.5 billion.
