Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH & Co. KG, the world’s fourth-largest family-owned automotive supplier, was founded by Max Brose in 1908. Headquartered in Coburg, Germany, it has 26,000 employees at 65 locations worldwide.

The company began producing its in-house automotive products in 1919 and developed its revolutionary crank drive for lowering automobile windows in 1926. In the 1950s, the company equipped brands such as Volkswagen, Ford, Mercedes and Opel with its automotive parts and part enhancements.

In the 1980s, Brose began producing integrated systems using sophisticated technology and logistics that would become the hallmark of the company’s modern products. The company expanded internationally in 1988 with its production facilities in England and Spain, followed by North America with its Mexican facility in 1993.

Brose developed new business segments driven by modern electronics in the 2000s, such as ABS braking systems, and pushed into the Asian market in 2009 with its Shanghai-based plant.

Today, Brose is present in 24 countries, with over $6 billion in annual revenue.
