The Yusuff Ali family is the controlling family of LuLu Group International. Indian billionaire Yusuff Ali M. A., based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), acts as the chairman and managing director. The company owns the LuLu Hypermarket worldwide chain and achieves annual revenue of $7.4 billion. Yusuff Ali M. A.’s estimated net worth is $4.4 billion.

The company was originally created by M. K. Abdullah, Yusuff Ali’s uncle. Yusuff Ali contributed after relocating from India to UAE in 1973 by developing import and wholesale distribution for the Group. He then launched Lulu Hypermarket in the 1990s.

Yusuff Ali runs the family business with his children. His daughter, Shafeena, is married to Adeeb Ahamed, head of Twenty14 Holdings, the Group’s hospitality division. Ahamed also runs LuLu International Exchange.

Ali’s other son-in-law, Shamsheer Vayalil, is the founder, managing director and chairman of the VPS Healthcare Group. Vayalil also acts as vice-chairman of Amanat Holdings, an education and healthcare investment company.

Yusuff Ali has achieved a notable series of titles and awards for his work in business and philanthropy. He is a former member of the Prime Minister of India’s Global Advisory Council, on which he served from 2008 to 2014. He is also a former trustee of the India Development Foundation.

Yusuff Ali also was appointed by the Indian Government as director of the board of Air India, a position he held from 2010 to 2012.
