Weisser is the German family behind global petroleum products wholesaler and importer Marquard & Bahls AG. Theodor Weisser founded the company in Hamburg in 1945.
After graduating in business management in the USA, Theodor Weisser’s eldest son, Hans Weisser, joined the company as head of its foreign office near Rotterdam, Mabanaft NV, in 1961. Theodor Weisser resigned from company management in 1973, leaving Hans and his brother Hellmuth Weisser in control of the company. Hans retired from the company in 1985. Hellmuth Weisser became Chairman of Marquard & Bahls in 1997, then Chairman of the supervisory board in 2003. Under Hellmuth Weisser’s leadership, the company grew internationally, operating in 40 countries. After his retirement in 2017, Hellmuth’s son Daniel assumed the position of Chairman of the supervisory board. Family members Jörg Weisser and Liesel Weisser are former supervisory board Directors. Maxim Weisser currently serves as a supervisory board member.
