The Wang family, led by patriarch Wang Jianlin, is the primary owner of the Chinese multinational conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group. The Group has several divisions including its main areas of focus: real estate development and media and entertainment. The Wang family, through the Dalian Wanda Group, is the largest real estate developer in China and largest movie theatre owner in the world, thanks in large part to their 2012 acquisition of the AMC movie theatre chain. Wang Jianlin was born in October 1954, educated at Liaoning University and spent his early career working for the Chinese government. Wang Jianlin married Lin Ning; they have one son, Wang Sicong, born in January 1988. Wang Sicong is the chairman of Prometheus Capital, a private equity company he started with a significant investment from his father. The Wang family also owns 15 per cent of the Spanish football club Atlético Madrid. The family’s latest estimated net personal worth was listed at $22.6 billion. From 2015 through 2017, Wang Jianlin earned the title “wealthiest person in China” and has regularly been recognised as one of the wealthiest people in all of Asia.
