The multinational holding company was founded in 1945 by Italian engineer Agostino Rocca and is headquartered in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Techint began in Argentinian construction but soon expanded to gas pipelines by the end of the 1940s. The company built its now world-leading seamless steel tube business through manufacturing facility acquisitions during the 50s.
Today, the group operates through its six companies: Tenaris is a global manufacturer and supplier of steel tubes to the energy sector. Ternium is a manufacturer of steel products for Latin American. Techint Engineering & Construction provides services for large-scale projects worldwide. Tenova develops sustainable solutions in metals and mining. Tecpetrol is an oil and gas exploration and production company, managing networks in Latin America. Humanitas controls a network of hospitals and focuses on state-of-the-art technology systems in Italy.
Paolo Rocca, grandson of the founder, is the Group’s CEO and Chairman of Tenaris and Ternium. His brother, Gianfelice, heads Humanitas.
