Owners of the multinational petrochemical and textile company, Indorama Corporation, the Lohia family is one of Asia’s richest families. Originally from India, the family operates out of Singapore and has an estimated net worth of over $8 billion. Indorama is the largest producer of polyolefins in the western Africa region and is one of the world’s top producers of polyester.

Sri Prakash Lohia and his father, Mohan Lal Lohia, immigrated to Indonesia from India in 1973 and co-founded Indorama Synthetics in 1976. Mohan divided the company between his sons in the late 1980s. Sri Prakash established Indorama in India and his brother, Aloke, set up Indorama Ventures in Thailand.

Today, Sri Prakash and Aloke control the family business, with Sri Prakash serving as the Group’s chairman and Aloke heading the Indorama Ventures consortium out of Bangkok. Sri Prakash’s son, Amit, is the Group’s vice chairman.
