Indorama Corporation is one of Asia’s leading chemical companies. Indorama manufactures and distributes polyethene terephthalate, purified terephthalic, polyester fibres, yarns and wool products. Based in Singapore, the company was founded in 1975 by Mohan Lal Lohia and his son, Sri Prakash Lohia.

Indorama began as a cotton yarn manufacturer. The company diversified during the 1990s and began producing synthetic yarns and polyester fibres. The company expanded its polyethene terephthalate business internationally with the acquisition of the US-based StarPet in 2003.

Indorama acquired petrochemical companies in Thailand during the early 2000s, including the country’s largest polyester fibre producer. Indorama expanded to Europe with its acquisition of Lithuania’s Orion Global PET in 2006 and entered the Chinese market in 2011 with the acquisition of Guangdong IVL PET Polymer.

Today, Indorama operates over 70 manufacturing sites in more than 30 countries. Indorama is the world’s largest producer of polyester products, with plants on five continents.
