Married with three children, Bloombergs estimates Frits Golschmelding’s personal fortune to be worth $4.67 billion, making him one of Holland’s richest men. The majority of that wealth is still derived from the 35 per cent stake he continues to hold in Randstad, although he has not had a managing influence on the company since he retired from the board in 2011 at the age of 77. Randstad is the world’s second-largest staffing and recruitment firm, which he co-founded with his university colleague Ger Daleboudt in 1960. In 2015, the Goldschmeding Foundation for People, Work and Economy was formed with the aim of creating a more inclusive and sustainable world through the support of innovative economic projects and scientific research that promotes the principle of love or “agape” as the pillar of a better society. Little information about the role his three sons Cornelius, Hans and Derk have had played in the company exists. None appear on the Goldschmeding Foundation website, nor do they appear to have had visible roles inside the Randstad company.
