Galaxy Entertainment Group, Ltd. is a Hong Kong-based investment holding company that operates casino games and hospitality-related services. Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) was founded by Lui Che-Woo in 1988 and is one of the three original concessionaires in Macau, China.
In 2002, Galaxy Casino was chosen from 18 American, European and Asian corporations to receive a gaming concession in Macau. The group opened its first casino, Casino Waldo, in 2004 and became the first gaming operator to be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2005.
GEG opened several more casinos throughout the 2000s, including the group’s first 5-star hotel, StarWorld Macau, in 2006. GEG opened its flagship project, the Galaxy Macau, in 2011 as one of Macau’s premier tourism destinations.
In 2017, GEG partnered with the resort, Monte-Carlo SBM, to develop and operate entertainment businesses in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan. GEG generates an annual revenue of $7 billion.
