Dr. August Oetker KG is a German holding company that operates through its global subsidiaries and five business divisions: food, beverages, banking, chemicals and hospitality services. Founded in 1891 and headquartered in Bielefeld, the group is one of Germany’s largest family businesses, with over 400 retail food products.
Pharmacist Dr. August Oetker, founded the business with his innovative new baking powder called “Backin”. The food company expanded its interests into other areas throughout the 20th century, such as shipping, banking and hospitality, notably during the leadership of the founder’s grandson Rudolf-August Oetker.
