Automotive systems and components producer based in Germany. Benteler was founded by Carl Benteler in 1876. Carl’s grandson, Hubertus Benteler, serves on the Supervisory Board of the company, which generates over $9 billion in yearly revenue.
Carl Benteler began with an ironware shop in 1876. Carl’s son, Eduard Benteler, took over the business in 1908 and entered the industrial sector with the purchase of an engineering firm. The company began producing special tubes used for brakes for German and French railways. In 1935, Benteler started manufacturing parts for the Ford Motor Company. Eduard’s sons, Helmut and Erich, took over the company in 1942 and expanded its product range to include refrigerators and heating systems. By the end of the 50s, Benteler manufactured automotive parts for nearly all of Germany’s car companies. Representing the Benteler’s fourth generation, Hubertus Benteler assumed leadership of the company during the 80s and grew its revenue and manufacturing capacity by opening new plants in Eastern Europe, the US and China. Today, Benteler operates nearly 100 locations worldwide.
