Bradesco is one of the largest financial services institutions in Brazil. Following its merger with Unibanco in 2009, the newly composed boasts 5,314 branches, 4,834 service branches and 38,430 “Bradesco Expresso” units. Bradesco was founded in 1943 and is headquartered in Osasco, in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. Today, Bradesco employs more than 108,000 people throughout the enterprise. Bradesco has various product lines including banking, investment banking, private equity, asset management, private banking, insurance and retail banking. Combining these product lines helped Bradesco earn revenues of $74 billion in 2017. Bradesco prides itself on being an innovator in the South American financial services industry. They recently pioneered a service they call Segurança Bradesco na Palma da Mão, which translates as “Bradesco Security in the Palm of Your Hand”. The technology allows a customer’s handprint to be the primary security gateway rather than the traditional PIN code. The bank’s roots trace back to March 1943 when Amador Aguiar founded Banco Brasileiro de Descontos in the city of Marília. The fledgling operation sought to target small landowners, retailers and government employees as their primary customers. Just eight years later, Bradesco had grown to become the largest private bank in Brazil.
