Nadine Kammerlander

Since November 2015, Prof. Dr. Nadine Kammerlander is the Chaired Professor of Family Business at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar, Germany (Website of my institute). Moreover, she is the Academic Director of the Institute for Family Businesses at WHU, short IFB@WHU. Moreover, she is Associate Editor at Family Business Review, a Sage Journal with an impact factor of 5.5 that currently ranks number 4 out of 115 business journals.

Her reasearch interests focus on innovation, family firms, and succession, her teaching focuses on entrepreneurship, strategic management, and family firms.

In 2012, she earned my PhD degree at the Otto-Friedrich University in Bamberg, Germany (summa cum laude). Her dissertation studies organizations’ adaptation to discontinuous technological changes, in particular the effects of family influence and organizational identity. During her time as PhD candidate, she was an affiliated Research Fellow at IMD, Switzerland. After her PhD she worked for several years as assistant professor at the University of St. Gallen.

Prior to earning her PhD, she worked for several years for McKinsey & Company, Munich as senior consultant / junior project leader. Her projects focused among others on product development optimization in large automotive and semiconductor firms. During this time, she gained international experience in the US as well as in Mexico. Moreover, she gained practical experience during several short-term work employments / internships at BMW Group Munich, Deutsche Post Landshut, Siemens AG Forchheim, Bahnhofsapotheke Landshut, Ludwig-Maximilian-University Munich and Technical University Munich.

In 2007, she earned a degree in physics (“with excellence”, Dipl.-Phys. which equals a master-degree) from the Technical University of Munich. She studied physics in Munich as well as in Lund, Sweden. Her main focus was on bio-nanophysics as well as laser-optics and semiconductors. Her experimental thesis was about the production and analysis of small nano-particles.

She is an alumna of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, Bayerische Begabtenförderung, Junge Akademie der TU München, and Manage & More. Currently she is serving on the Editorial Board of Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, G-Forum, and FERC Career Academy. Together with Thomas Zellweger, Wim Voordeckers, and Philipp Sieger she was recently guest editing a special issue at Journal of Family Business Strategy.

She serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Studies, Small Business Economics, Family Business Review, Creativity and Innovation Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Small Business Management, and Journal of Family Business Strategy.
