The Hong Kong-based Lui family owns the Galaxy Entertainment Group and international property developer K. Wah International Holdings, with an estimated net worth of $14 billion.
Lui Che-Woo established his family’s construction company in the 1950s. Today, they develop properties in Hong Kong, mainland China and Singapore. In 2002, Che-Woo expanded the business into gaming and secured a concession in Macau.
Considered the 88th richest person in the world, Che-Woo donated $1.2 billion in 2015 to establish a foundation to award those working toward sustainable development and the betterment of the welfare of humanity.
Che-Woo remains chairman of the K. Wah Group. His eldest son, Francis, oversees Galaxy’s operations as deputy chairman and also serves as K. Wah International Holdings’ executive director. His daughter, Paddy Tang Lui, serves as K. Wah’s executive director, and his other son, Alexander, is the Group’s vice-chairman.
